Reading the Water

Water depth can change drastically. A captain will show you how to read the water color to identify shallow areas, like brown water, and avoid hazards like sandbars.

Tides

You'll learn the importance of monitoring tide levels, as they are crucial for navigating and avoiding running aground, especially at low tide.

Docking and Anchoring

Gain confidence in tricky situations by mastering techniques for docking at marinas and anchoring at sandbars.

Operating at Boat Ramps

Learn the proper etiquette and safe practices for loading and unloading your boat and trailer at public ramps.

Engine and Boat Awareness

Your captain will help you understand how your boat's motors and equipment perform, and they may provide tips for simple maintenance to prevent breakdowns.

Respectful Operation

You'll learn how to handle your vessel responsibly around other boats, people, and wildlife, such as manatees and dolphins.
